Patient Outcomes

The goal of LIMBS patient outcomes has been to develop a rehabilitation protocol that enables amputees fitted with the LIMBS Knee to use it optimally. We have since integrated this into a focused rehabilitation seminar. We have also established a program for on-going field evaluation of the LIMBS Knee, (which has provided insight to procedural changes necessary to the LIMBS Knee) as it relates to real-world performance. Currently, LIMBS uses four different tests to evaluate patient outcomes:

  • Physiological Cost Index (PCI)
  • Timed Walk Test
  • GAITRiteTM Test
  • LIMBS lower limb Functional Parameters Questionnaire (FPQ)

Initial test results have shown that compared to other available knees, the LIMBS Knee enables a more normal gait pattern, and easier swing through without significant loss of stability. Results from the patient outcomes measurements were presented at the ISPO World Congress in Leipzig, Germany.
